The Greek God Papadon: Zostałem przeszkolony przez Homicide (z TNA & ROH) w LIWF Doghous. Siedziba znajdowała się w Brooklynie. Kiedy Doghous zamknął przede mną swoje drzwi, kontynuowałem szkolenie w NYWC Acedemy pod okiem Mikey’a Whipwreck’a. Mateusz:  Kto Cię zainspirował w drodze do zostania wrestlerem?

The Greek God Papadon: Mój ojciec był dla mnie wzorem do naśladowania tj. inspiracją, ponieważ zawsze ciężko pracował i mogłem liczyć na wsparcie z jego strony do momentu jego śmierci. Nauczył mnie jaką wartość mają dolary oraz, że ciężka praca jest jedynym sposobem, aby wybrnąć/przetrwać w każdej sytuacji.

Mateusz: Co cię skłoniło do zostania pro-wrestlerem? Ile miałeś lat, kiedy po raz pierwszy zainteresowałeś się wrestlingiem?

The Greek God Papadon: Już jako dziecko marzyłem o zostaniu pro-wrestlerem. Oglądałem w tv pojedynki z udziałem Stinga i Rica Flaira. Powiedziałem, że to właśnie będzie to co zrobię, gdy zestarzeję się. Nie pamiętam ile miałem lat, kiedy miałem okazję obserwować ten pojedynek.

Mateusz: Czy pamiętasz swój pierwszy pojedynek? Kiedy i w jakiej organizacji debiutowałeś? 

The Greek God Papadon: Tak, to było w LIWF, a moim przeciwnikiem był Andrew Edwards. Niespełna po miesiącu od rozpoczęcia szkolenia.

Mateusz: Papadon, czy mógłbyś czytelnikom MyWrestling opowiedzieć na temat turnieju odbywającego się w Wrestling Cares Association Race? Kto był najtrudniejszym twoim przeciwnikiem? Czy mógłbyś opisać wszystkich uczestników turnieju(Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, Steve Anthony)?

The Greek God Papadon: W turnieju WCA udział biorą najbardziej utalentowani wrestlerzy i jestem dumny z tego, że miałem okazję być jego częścią. Każdy z pojedynków miał swój wyznaczony termin, a osoba musi uzyskać najwięcej punktów za pokonanie przeciwnika przez pin lub submission. To był dla mnie prawdziwy zaszczyt móc pracować z Les Thatcher, David Jackson & Nigel McGuiness. Dodatkowo środki finansowe, które zostały zebrane w trakcie trwania turnieju zostały przeznaczone na cele charytatywne. Najtrudniejszym moim rywalem był Johnny Gargano, ponieważ to właśnie on wyeliminował mnie w półfinale. Każdy z uczestników półfinałowych walk, czyli Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, Ja oraz Steven wniósł coś wyjątkowego do WCA.

Mateusz: W ciągu ostatnich 25 lat profesjonalny wrestling zmienił się bardzo wyraźnie. Czy mógłbyś nam przedstawić swoją opinię na ten temat?

The Greek God Papadon: Świetne pytanie, ponieważ tutaj chodzi o perspektywy. Niektórzy widzą szklankę w połowie pełną, podczas gdy inni widzą ją w połowie pustą takie przytoczenie. Osobiście uważam, że w niektórych aspektach działalność uległa znacznej poprawie. Na przykład wrestler nie musi zaliczać się do tych wielkoludów, aby być czołową postacią w biznesie, teraz bardziej liczą się umiejętności sportowe. Z drugiej strony wrestler powinien potrafić się sprzedać słuchaczom, czyli znaczna poprawa posługiwania się mikrofonem tak to ujmę. Większość zapaśników otrzymuje zbyt mało czas na zaprezentowanie swoich umiejętności przed fanami.

Mateusz: Kto był numerem jeden w pro wrestlingu, który zainspirował Cię w drodze do zostania wrestlerem?

The Greek God Papadon: Ciężko powiedzieć, ponieważ jest tak wielu wrestlerów którzy byli dla mnie inspiracją. Wcześniej wspominałem, że konflikt z udziałem Rica Flaira i Stinga, a jeśli chodzi o styl prowadzenia swoich walk, to: Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Fin Finkay, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit oraz HHH.

Mateusz: Mógłbyś Nam opisać styl stosowany przez Ciebie?

The Greek God Papadon: Mogę walczyć z wszystkimi począwszy od Lucha po Japoński Spirit Strong Style. Jestem jak kameleon potrafię się dostosować do wszystkiego. Nie jestem jednym z tych, którzy walczą stosując tylko jeden styl.

Mateusz: Jeśli firma chce Cię wynająć, to co musi zrobić aby się z tobą skontaktować?

Organizator powinien zarezerwować mnie, ponieważ każdy wie, że poświęcam cały czas temu co robię. Mogę walczyć w każdym stylu, mogę mówić do mikrofonu tj. wygłaszać proma, oraz dać powód fanom do ponownego obejrzenia GGP.

Mateusz: Jak się czujesz, gdy masz okazję oglądać swoich kolegów takich jak Zack Ryder podczas WWE PPV?

The Greek God Papadon: To wspaniałe uczucie, gdy widzisz jak twojemu przyjacielowi udało się spełnić marzenia. Oczywiście chcę być obok niego.

Mateusz: Jak Ci się pracowało z byłym ECW Championem Mikey’em Whipwreck’iem?

The Greek God Papadon: Szkolenie oraz współpraca z Mikeyem jest jak otrzymanie błogosławieństwa. On jest świetnym facetem zarówno w ringu jak i po za nim, nauczyłem się bardzo wiele. Jestem bardzo szczęśliwy, że zostałem przeszkolony przez dwóch najlepszych trenerów (Homicide & Mikey).

Mateusz: Jaki jest twój wymarzony pojedynek?

The Greek God Papadon: Walka wieczoru na WrestleManii oraz walka wieczoru podczas Wrestle Kingdom.

Mateusz: Czym jest twoja akcja kończąca?

The Greek God Papadon: To połączenie The Alpha-Omega (Shinning Wizard) & In God I Trust (Jumping Piledriver).

Mateusz: Co sądzisz na temat Alvina Alvareza i Grima Reefera?

The Greek God Papadon: Świetni ludzie! Alvin jest głodny i zostanie najlepszym wrestlerem, Reefer i ja rozpoczęliśmy swoją przygodę w LIWF Doghouse. Jest bardzo utalentowany, ale niestety niedoceniany.

Mateusz: Co myślisz na temat Briana Myersa?

The Greek God Papadon: Jest on studentem oraz świetnym wrestlerem. W WWE niestety jego potencjał nie został wykorzystany. Odejście Briana wiąże się z wzmocnieniem innej organizacji. Posiada własną szkołę w Long Island NY i zawsze polecam ją wszystkim osobom, które chcą rozpocząć swoją przygodę z wrestlingiem. NYWC & CAP to dwa miejsca, które są przeze mnie polecane dla każdego z NY.

Mateusz: Thank you for interview, Dimitrious. How are you?

The Greek God Papadon: I am doing well. Thanks for asking.

Mateusz: For those who dont know you how would you describe yourself?

The Greek God Papadon: I am a pro wrestler who can wrestle any style and wants to be the best. I love comics, movies, the gym, sports, and most of all my family.

Mateusz: Where did the idea for your ring name „Greek God Papadon”?

The Greek God Papadon: Well, number one I am 100% Greek and my last name is Papadon , so there you have it. Nice and simple.

Mateusz: When did you first become a fan of professional wrestling?

The Greek God Papadon: When I was child.

Mateusz: Who trained you, and what was the experience like?

The Greek God Papadon: I was trained by Homicide (from TNA & ROH) at the LIWF Doghouse in Brooklyn NY. When the Doghouse closed its doors I continued my training at the NYWC Academy under Mikey Whipwreck. The training wasn’t easy. It was intense and tough but that is how it should be. Wrestling isn’t a business for the weak.

Mateusz: Who has been a great inspiration to you in your quest to make it to where you are today?

The Greek God Papadon: My father has been an inspiration to me bc until the day he passed away he always worked hard and supported his family. He taught me the value of a dollar and that hard work is the only way to make it through any situation.

Mateusz: What Made you decide to become a pro-wrestler? How many years you had when did you start to be interested in Wrestling?

The Greek God Papadon: I always wanted to be a pro wrestler since I was a child. I saw a TV match between Sting and Ric Flair and said this is what I want to do when I get older. I don’t remember how old I was when I saw this match.

Mateusz: Do you remember your first outing as a wrestler? When and where you started at organization?

The Greek God Papadon: Yea, it was against „Simply the Best” Andrew Edwards at the LIWF and it was one moth after I started training. 

Mateusz: Do you remember the first time you saw yourself wrestling on tv? How did that feel?

The Greek God Papadon: It felt surreal. It is an amazing experience watching yourself for the first time. Now I watch myself and see what I need to do to continue to get better.

Mateusz: Who have you enjoyed working with the most so far in your career?

The Greek God Papadon: I enjoyed working with many wrestlers because I learn something new every time I step into the ring. I always say the day you stop learning is the day you need to hang it up 😛

Mateusz: In what organizations you have worked?

The Greek God Papadon: I have worked all over the USA for many different promotions. I have worked for Brian Dixon in the UK as well.

Mateusz: What do you think about Vince McMahon?

The Greek God Papadon: Vince is a great businessman who is an excellent promoter.

Mateusz: Who helped you the most in CZW?

The Greek God Papadon: I helped myself in CZW. Right now Pepper Parks CherryBomb and myself are the best thing going in CZW. We are pro-wrestling

Mateusz: So how did you make the connection with WWE and TNA?

The Greek God Papadon: Never worked for them full time. Only had two dark matches there very long time ago.

Mateusz: What was it like winning the ECWA Heavyweight Championship for the first time?

The Greek God Papadon: I won the ECWA Heavyweight Championship before it was unified with the other Championship. I held the ECWA Heavyweight Championship for 560 days before I lost it and it was unified.

Mateusz: How did you come up with the concept of the Greek God character? Papadon, you competed for various wrestling organizations throughout the East Coast, which wrestling organization in terms of locker room and coward reaction is the toughest?

The Greek God Papadon: It’s a stretch of reality. Meaning that I’m not a mythical being sitting on top of a mountain throwing lightning bolts at mere mortals. Basically the Greeks invented wrestling, he’ll we invented everything from democracy to mathematics to the Olympics. So wrestling is in my DNA and me being Greek makes me better than you…A God amongst men The Alpha and the Omega. As far as locker rooms go the toughest is any locker room that I am in. As far as crowd reaction and tough crowds, I would say the North East crowds are the toughest bc they don’t appreciate wrestling and they think they know all the ins and outs of the business bc they read a book or saw a shoot interview dvd. Bunch of simpletons if you ask me….peasants.

Mateusz: Papadon give My Wrestling readers some background about Wrestling Cares Association Race to the Ring Tournament? Who was the toughest opponent you have face in the Race to the Ring Tournament? Who would you describe the remaining participates in the Race for the Ring Tournament (Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, and Steve Anthony)?

The Greek God Papadon: The WCA tournament is by far the most talented collection of talent I have had the honor of being part of. It was a tournament of matches with a set time limit and a person needs to get the most points by pin or submission within the time period in order to advance.. It’s about the wrestling and athleticism and not gimmicks and shenanigans. It was an honor to be part of it and a privilege working with Les Thatcher, David Jackson, & Nigel McGuiness. Plus every show WCA had raised funds for a specific charity, which is a great idea. The toughest opponent I faced in the tournament was Johnny Gargano bc he was the one to eliminate me in the Semi finals and go on to run the tournament against Adam Cole. Adam, Johnny, Steven, and myself were the last four in the tournament and each one of us brought something unique to WCA. All 4 are awesome wrestlers who should be on a national level making a to. Of money.

Mateusz: Over the last 25 years Professional Wrestling has changed dramatically in terms of how it’s presented, in your opinion do you think it’s better today, or has the change hurt the product overall?

The Greek God Papadon: Great question, and it’s all about perspective. Some see the glass as half full while others see it as half empty. I personally feel that in some aspects the business has improved. For example, you do t need to be 6’4” and 300 lbs in order to be a top guy anymore bc the business has become more competitive with athletic ability amongst the performers. But on the other side of the coin the art of selling and telling a story to get the crowd emotionally vested in the match had become a lost art. The majority of the wrestlers today have a short amount of time to perform in front of a crowd or on TV and it is more smash mouth style because peoples attention spans have decreased. Society as a whole needs instant gratification and a 60 minutes in event that tells a dramatic story is non-existent now a days. 

Mateusz: Who was the number one pro wrestler who inspired you to get into the business, if you had one that is?

The Greek God Papadon: That hard to say there are so many that I looked up too as inspiration. But it was the Sting vs Flair feud that made me want to be a pro wrestler. As far as style goes it was Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Fit Finkay, Arn Anderson, Chris Benoit, HHH just to name a few that I patterned myself after.

Mateusz: How would you describe your wrestling style?

The Greek God Papadon: I can wrestle all styles from Lucha to Japanese Fighting Spirit Strong Style to the British Scientific to traditional American. I am like a chameleon I adapt to my surroundings. I’m not a one dimensional wrestler at all.

Mateusz: When a booker or company wants you,where can they contact you and why should they book you?

A promoter should book me bc they will get a wrestler who will give it his all all the time. I can wrestle any style, I can talk in the microphone and I will give the fans their money’s worth and they will come back to see GGP again and again.

Mateusz: What’s it been like watching your former colleagues, such as Ryder, compete on WWE pay per views and even win championship gold?

The Greek God Papadon: It is a great feeling seeing your buddies succeed in following their dreams. Obviously I want to be beside them making a ton of money as well. But my day will come.

Mateusz: What’s it like working with former ECW champion Mikey Whipwreck?

The Greek God Papadon: Training and working with Mikey Whipwreck is a blessing. He is a great guy both in and out of the ring and I have learned so much from him. I have been very fortunate to of been trained by two of the very best trainers ( Homicide & Mikey).

Mateusz: What would your dream match be?

The Greek God Papadon: Main event at Wrestlemania or main event at Wrestle Kingdom.

Mateusz: What is your finishing move called and what exactly is it?

The Greek God Papadon: The Alpha-Omega(Shinning Wizard) & In God I Trust (Jumping Piledriver)

Mateusz: What do you think about Alvin Alvarez and Grim Reefer?

The Greek God Papadon: Good guys! Alvin is hungry on becoming a better wrestler Reefer and I started together at the LIWF Doghouse and are the only two left from our class that still wrestle. He very talented and underrated

Mateusz: What do you think about Brian Myers?

The Greek God Papadon: He is a student of the game and a great wrestler. WWE did not utilize him to his fullest potential. Their loss will be someone else’s gain. He has a great school in Long Island NY called Create A Pro and and I always recommend it to people looking to get into the wrestling business. NYWC & CAP are the two
places I recommend to anyone in NY if the want yo become a pro wrestler. He is a friend.

Mateusz: Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

The Greek God Papadon: Still wrestling.

Mateusz: What is the hardest thing about being a wrestler?

The Greek God Papadon: Hearing a million no’s but all you need to do is gear one yes.
