Chris „The Bambikiller” Raaber to doświadczony australijski wrestler, który w 2009 roku podpisał kontrakt z WWE na występy we Florida Championship Wrestling, a obecnie występujący na całym świecie walcząc z największymi nazwiskami tego biznesu.

1. Witaj, Chris! Jak się masz? 🙂
– W porządku, dziękuję. Mam nadzieję, że Ty i nasi czytelnicy również mają się dobrze.
2. Wiemy, że jesteś bardzo doświadczonym wrestlerem. Kiedy po raz pierwszy zobaczyłeś wrestling?
– Miałem około 4-5 lat, kiedy po raz pierwszy sięgnąłem po program CWA (Catch Wrestling Association), który był największym programem o wrestlingu w Europie prowadzonym przez Otto Wanza i Petera Williama. Byłem przytłoczony przez tych wszystkich ogromnych facetów i różnym rodzajem atletów. Niedługo po tym obejrzałem kasetę video z CWA i od razu się uzależniłem!
3. A, kiedy zacząłeś treningi na profesjonalnym ringu? Jaka to była szkółka, który rok i kto był twoim pierwszym trenerem?
– Zacząłem trenować wrestling na początku 1997 roku. Nie było wtedy jeszcze szkółek. W 1996 roku spotkałem Michaela Kovaca i zapytałem go czy nie mógłby mnie trenować. Aby, wyciąć długie opowiadanie, powiedział mi, że zadzwoni do mnie jak skończy się sezon i tak też zrobił. Pierw zaczęliśmy trenować na materacach, później na małym (bardzo twardym) ringu. Trenowałem około roku i swoją pierwszą walkę stoczyłem 9 maja 1998 roku w wieku 16 lat.
4. Jaki styl preferujesz?
– Kocham klasyczny europejski i japoński styl!
5. Skąd wziął się twój pseudonim „Bambikiller”?
– Kiedy zacząłem trenować wrestling (pamiętam, że byłem bardzo młody, ale również bardzo chudy) byłem zdecydowanie najmłodszy i weteranom nie podobało się to, że dano mi szansę trenowania… Muszę stwierdzić, że podróżowałem 2,5 godziny (w jedną stronę) w każdy weekend, aby móc trenować .. Pierwszy przyjeżdżałem i ostatni opuszczałem trening. W każdym razie, w pewnym momencie jeden z weteranów powiedział „co ty tu robisz? jedyną istotą, która może cię pokonać jest mały bambi….”, więc pomyślałem, że powinienem być znany jako „bambikiller”, na pewno tego nie zapomnę!
6. Występowałeś już w wielu federacjach. Mógłbyś wymienić te najbardziej popularne?
– Cóż, podpisałem kontrakt z WWE, AJPW (All Japan Pro Wrestling), obecnie jestem mistrzem świata w QPW (Qatar Pro Wrestling), która korzysta tylko z największych nazwisk takich jak Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio/El Patron, Booker T, Bobby Lashley, Johnny Morrison i wielu innych.
7. Kontrakt z WWE na występy we Florida Championship Wrestling podpisałeś w 2009 roku. Jak wspominasz ten czas?
– Będę uczciwy, nie podobało mi się tam… Wtedy byłem już w branży od 12 lat i musiałem zacząć wszystko od nowa, czego naprawdę się nie spodziewałem. Z drugiej strony spotkałem kilku wspaniałych ludzi takich jak dr. Tom Prichard, Norman Smiley i kogoś kogo nigdy nie zapomnę, mojego najlepszego przyjaciela Alberto Del Rio.
8. Rok później po raz pierwszy wystąpiłeś w Polsce. Było to Zawiercie i gala Total Blast Wrestling. Co możesz powiedzieć o tym występie i o polskiej publiczności?
– Bardzo podobało mi się zmaganie w Polsce, tłum był gorący.
9. Obecnie w Polsce aktywnie działa federacja – Maniac Zone Wrestling. Chciałbyś powrócić do Polski?
– Oczywiście, chciałbym wrócić do Polski.
10. Miałeś okazję walczyć z wieloma cenionymi wrestlerami. Kto był twoim najgroźniejszym rywalem w całej swojej karierze?
– W ciągu ostatnich 18 lat miałem zaszczyt walczyć z najlepszymi atletami na świecie… potwory takie jak 240-kilogramowy Viscera/Big Daddy V, Big Van Vader, Great Muta, Ryback, Bray Wyatt, Kensuke Sasaki, Akebono, Mason Ryan, Alberto Del Rio i wielu innych. Ale myślę, że najtrudniejszym zadaniem będzie dla mnie obrona tytułu mistrza świata przeciwko byłemu AJPW Triple Crown Championowi Joe Doeringowi 5 grudnia w moim rodzinnym mieście Leoben w Austrii.
11. A, kto jest Twoim wymarzonym przeciwnikiem?
– Bardzo chciałbym zawalczyć z panem Fitem Finlayem i ponownie zmierzyć się z Alberto Del Rio/El Patronem.
12. Pojawiałeś się także w walkach tag teamowych. Z kim najlepiej Ci się współpracowało?
– Praca w tag teamach jest czymś specjalnym i zabawnym. Wziąłem kilku moich uczniów na wycieczkę do Japonii (AJPW) i zawsze łączymy się w drużynę, wychodzi to bardzo dobrze.
13. Gdzie obecnie występujesz?
– Walczę na całej planecie, trzymając 7 tytułów mistrzowskich na 4 kontynentach w tym samym czasie. Wrócę do Afryki i Japonii pod koniec tego roku i do Bliskiego Wschodu na początku przyszłego. Cały czas zajęty 😉
14. Twój największy sukces?
– Mój syn.
15. Co poradziłbyś osobom, które chcą rozpocząć karierę wrestlera?
– Trenujcie u boku przeszkolonych i szanowanych weteranów. Aktualnie mam własną szkółkę wrestlingu / siłownię „The Catch-Wrestling Dojo” w Leoben i prowadzę ją już 8 lat. Kiedy czuję, że moi uczniowie są gotowi, bookuje ich na gale w Europie, a także za granicą, np. Japonia, Afryka, Bliski Wschód itp.
16. Jakie masz plany na przyszłość?
– Cały czas podróżować po świecie i żyć marzeniami.
17. Czym interesujesz się poza wrestlingiem?
– Kocham gotowanie, filmy, relaks i zapasy z moim synem 😉

1. Hi, Chris! How are you? 🙂
– Fine thanks, I hope you and your reads are doing well.
2. We know that you are very experienced wrestler. When you first saw pro wrestling?
– I was about 4-5 years old when i first got a programm of the CWA (Catch Wrestling Association), which was europes biggest wrestling company run by Otto Wanz and Peter William in my hands and was overwhelmed by all this huge guys and all the different kind of athletes in it. Shortly after I watched a video tape of the cwa and well, i was hooked right away!
3. When did you start training in professional ring? What it was the school, what year and who was your first coach?
– I started to train wrestling in early 1997. Back then there was no school. 1996 I met Michael Kovac and I asked him if he would train me. To cut a long story short, he said he will call me after the season was over and he did. We started to train on mats first, later on in a small (very stiff) ring. I trained for about a year and had my first match on may 9th 1998 at the age of 16.
4. What wrestling style do you prefer?
– I love the classic european and japanese wrestling style!
5. Where did you get your nickname „Bambikiller”?
– When I started to train wrestling (remember I was very young, but also very skinny), I was by far the youngest and the veterans didn’t liked the fact that I was given the chance to train… I got to state that I traveld 2,5 hours (one way) every weekend to get trained .. was the first one to arrive and the last one to leave the training. Anyway at one point one of the veterans said „what are you doing here anyway? the only thing you might can beat is a little bambi….” so I figured I should be known as the „bambikiller” a name you hear, but for sure not forget!
6. You appeared in many promotions. Could you mention the most popular?
– Well I was signed by WWE, signed by AJPW (All Japan Pro Wrestling), I am the current world champion of QPW (Qatar Pro Wrestling) a company that is only using the biggest names, such as Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio/ El Patron, Booker T, Bobby Lashley, Johnny Morrison etc. and many more.
7. In 2009 you signed a contract with WWE to perform at the Florida Championship Wrestling. How do you remember that time?
– I didn’t liked it to be honest… back then I was already in the business for 12 years and starting all over again was not really what I had in mind for myself. At the other hand I met a few great people like dr. Tom Prichard, Norman Smiley and not to forget my best friend Alberto Del Rio, among others.
8. A year later, your appearance for the first time in Poland. It was a event in Zawiercie for Total Blast Wrestling. What can you say about this performance and Polish audience?
– I really enjoyed to wrestle in Poland, the crowed was hot.
9. Currently in Poland is active promotion – Maniac Zone Wrestling. Would you like to return to Poland?
– Of course I would like to return to Poland.
10. You had the opportunity to fight with many respected wrestlers. Who was your most dangerous rival throughout your career?
– During the past 18 years I had the honor to wrestle some of the best athletes in the world… monsters like 240kg Viscera/ Big Daddy V, Big Van Vader, Great Muta, Ryback, Bray Wyatt, Kensuke Sasaki, Akebono, Mason Ryan, Alberto Del Rio and many more. But I think the hardest challenge will be the world title defense against former AJPW triple crown champion Joe Doering on december 5th in my hometown Leoben in Austria.
11. And who is your dream opponent?
– I would love to have a match with mr. Fit Finlay and Alberto Del Rio / El patron again.
12. You performed also in tag team matches. Who is the best you cooperated?
– Working in a tag team is a special thing and fun. I took a few of my students to tours in Japan (AJPW) with me and we always teamed up and did very well.
13. Where to now you appeared?
– I wrestle all over the planet, holding 7 world titles on 4 continents at the same time. I will return to Africa and Japan at the end of this year and middle east early next year. Always busy 😉
14. Your biggest success is… ?
– My son.
15. What would you advise people who want to start a career pro wrestler?
– Get trained by an experianced and respected veteran. I actually have my own wrestling school / gym the catch-wrestling dojo in Leoben and run it for 8 years now. When I feel my students are ready I get them booked within Europe and also overseas like Japan, Africa, middle east etc.
16. What are your plans for the future?
– Keep traveling the world and living the dream.
17. What interested outside of pro wrestling?
– I love cooking, movies, relaxing and wrestle with my son 😉
