Mateusz: Dziękuję za wywiad, Rob. Jak się masz?
Rob: Czuje się bardzo dobrze, jest u mnie lato w Indianapolis, to mój ulubiony czas roku. Kiedy nie uprawiam wrestlingu lub nie pracuję, to staram się spędzać jak najwięcej czasu na basenie.
Mateusz: Thank you for interview, Rob. How are you?
Rob: I am doing great it is summer here in Indiana that is my favorite time of the year when I am not wrestling or working out I try and spend as much time at the pool as I can.
Mateusz: Skąd wziął się pomysł na twój ring name ”Rob Conway”?
Rob: Naprawdę nazywam się Rob Conway. Zanim zacząłem prace w Ohio Valley Wrestling w Indiana byłem znany jako były zawodnik basketballu oraz były kulturysta. W OVW zacząłem używać swojego prawdziwego imienia i nigdy nie myślałem o jego zmianie. Nightmare Danny Davis to wlasciciel OVW, który przed moim pierwszym pojedynkiem, który miał miejsce w listopadzie 1997 roku dal ring name ”Ironman”
Mateusz: Where did the idea for your ring name „Rob Conway” ?
Rob: My real name is Rob Conway . I was already well known in southern Indiana as a former Basketball standout and Bodybuilder before I started wrestling at OVW so I never thought of changing my name. NIGHTMARE DANNY DAVIS the owner of OVW gave me the name IRONMAN before my first match in November of 1997.
Mateusz: Kiedy po raz pierwszy zostałeś fanem wrestlingu?
Rob: Zacząłem oglądać wrestling w tv, gdy miałem 7 lat i często pojawiałem się w Louisville Gardens. Byłem wielkim fanem Macho Mana Randyego Savage’a, Jerryego Lawlera, Austina Idola oraz The Fabulous Ones.
Mateusz: When did you first become a fan of professional wrestling?
Rob: I started watching wrestling on TV at about 7 years old and going to matches at the LOUISVILLE GARDENS at about 10. USWA I was a big Fan of Macho Man Randy Savage and Jerry The King Lawler, Austin Idol and the Fabulous Ones.
Mateusz: Kto Cię przeszkolił i gdzie nabyłeś doświadczenia?
Rob: Byłem szkolony przez Nightmare Danny’ego Davisa, a następnie przez Hustle Ripa Rogersa w Jeffersonville Indiana. Później w Ohio Valley Wrestling przeszkolony zostałem przez Nicka Eugene Dinsmore, Douga i Dannyego Bashema i dzięki nim podpisałem kontrakt z WWE. Występowałem na całym świecie. Mateusz: Who trained you, and what was the experience like?
Rob: I was trained by Nightmare Danny Davis and some with Hustle Rip Rogers in a warehouse in JEFFERSONVILLE INDIANA, later it Became Ohio Valley Wrestling.me Nick Eugene Dinsmore, Doug and Danny Bashem are considered to be the OVW ORIGINALS because we started in OVW and then earned WWE CONTRACT and went on to Wrestle around the world. Training was much harder than I expected it to be but I really loved it I had a goal from the first day to wrestle in WWE and WrestleMania.
Mateusz: Kto był twoją inspiracją?
Rob: Na przestrzeni wielu lat inspirowałem się wieloma świetnymi wrestlerami, którzy jednocześnie byli moimi mentorami. Danny Davis, Rip Rogers, Jim Cornette, właśnie oni pomogli mi najbardziej na początku mojej kariery a później Jerry Lawler, Billy Gunn, JBL, Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko, Fit Finlay, Dave Taylor, Kevin Kelly i Jim Ross. Im zawdzięczam wszystko czego nauczyłem się w OVW. Natomiast w WWE mogłem liczyć na pomoc w zostaniu profesjonalista HBK, HHH, Edge’a i Williama Regala.
Mateusz: Who has been a great inspiration to you in your quest to make it to where you are today?
Rob: I have been inspired and mentored by a lot of great wrestlers and people over the years. Danny Davis ,Rip Rogers, Jim Cornette really helped me early in my career then Jerry Lawler,Billy Gunn,JBL,Arn Anderson,Dean Melenko,Fit Finlay,Dave Taylor ,Kevin Kelly and Jim Ross All came to OVW and helped me get ready for National TV. When I got to WWE HBK,HHH and Edge and William Regal really helped me become a true professional.
Mateusz: Czy pamiętasz swój pierwszy pojedynek jako wrestler? Kiedy i gdzie rozpoczęła się twoja przygoda?
Rob: Mój pierwszy pojedynek, to był tag team match w Jeffersonville, Indianapolis a moim partnerem był Nick Dinsmore znany z WWE jako Eugen. Naszymi rywalami byli Hustle Rip Rogers i Jason Lee. Wygraliśmy ten pojedynek po wykonaniu torture rack.
Mateusz: Do you remember your first outing as a wrestler? When and where you started at organization?
Rob: My first match was a tag match in JEFFERSONVILLE INDIANA teamed with Nick Dinsmore aka Wwe Eugene vs Hustle Rip Rogers and Jason Lee. I won the match with the torture rack.
Mateusz: Co chciałbyś powiedzieć fanom, którzy wątpili w Ciebie?
Rob: Oni na pewno nie oglądali mnie, musiałeś sobie pomylić mnie z kimś innym 😉
Mateusz: What would you like to say to those fans who doubt you and think your just another generic wrestler?
Rob: They must not be watching me must have me confused with someone else 😉
Mateusz: W jakich federacjach występowałeś?
Rob: Dużo występów mam w federacji NWA oraz jestem w rosterze japońskiej federacji NJPW, ale jestem wolnym agentem i mogę pracować wszędzie.
Mateusz: Which promotion do you primarily wrestle for?
Rob: I wrestle a lot for the NWA and I am on the NJPW ROSTER but I am a free agent and can work for anyone I want .
Mateusz: Jakie są twoje największe osiągniecia w wrestlingu?
Rob: Jestem dwukrotnym NWA World Heavyweight Championem, jednokrotnym NWA World Tag Team Championem, trzykrotnym mistrzem WWE World Tag Team. Byłem trzykrotnie na WrestleManii oraz stoczyłem pojedynek o tytuł na WrestleKingdom. Jest 9 różnych figurek z moja podobizna, grałem w grę video z moim udziałem oraz są karty na których jestem. Występowałem w 49 stanach, to kilka rzeczy z których jestem dumny.
Mateusz: What are your biggest accomplishments in Wrestling ?
Rob: Being a 2x NWA WORLDS HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION,1 x NWA World tag team Champion, 3x WWE world tag team champion,being in 3 wrestlemanias, have a title match at WrestleKingdom, I have 9 action figures made of me and I have been in Video games and topps trading cards. Wrestling in 49 states and 12 countries Those are a few thing that make me proud.
Mateusz: Co moglbys doradzić ludziom, którzy chcą rozpocząć karierę w wrestlingu?
Rob: Najpierw musicie zdobyć wyksztalcenie, a następnie pójdźcie do szkoły, gdzie nauczycie się wrestlingu i zostaniecie wypromowani.
Mateusz: What do you advise people who want to start a career wrestling?
Rob: I would tell aspiring wrestlers to get a college degree then go to a wrestling school that has produced superstar wrestlers.
Mateusz: Według Ciebie, który feud był najlepszy w twojej karierze, dlaczego i jak długo trwał?
Rob: Feud NWA vs NJPW trwał prawie przez 3 lata i walczyłem z Tenzanem, Kojima, Jushinem Ligerem, ale największym wyzwaniem dla mnie była walka z Shinsuke Nakamura.
Mateusz: According to you which of the feuds in your career was the best ? Why ? How long did ?
Rob: My current feud with NWA VS NJPW I was been going for 3 years with Tenzan ,Kojima ,Jushin Liger but King of Strong Style has been ducking my challenge Shinsuke Nakamura.
Mateusz: Co czułeś, gdy po raz pierwszy zdobyłeś OVW Heavyweight Championship
Rob: Czules się swietnie, gdy zdobyłem OVW Heavyweight Championship. Byłem czterokrotnym mistrzem. Super jest być najlepszym zawodnikiem w każdej federacji. 11 razy zdobyłem mistrzostwo tag team w OVW, kocham drużynowe zapasy.
Mateusz: What was it like winning the OVW Heavyweight Championship for the first time?
Rob: It was great winning the OVW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP all 4 times I was champion. It feels great to be the top guy in any company. I have won the Ovw tag championship 11 times and really love tag team wrestling.
Mateusz: Co takiego w 2015 roku wydarzyło się co zapadło Ci w pamięci?
Rob: Pamiętam, ze przy 40 tysięcznej publiczności w Tokyo Dome przegrałem NWA World Heavyweight Championship, ale na szczęście udało mi się go odzyskać w Cauliflower Alley Club. Uważam, ze jestem najciężej pracującym wrestlerem w całej historii.
Mateusz: What happened in 2015 that would remain in your memory for long?
Rob: I will remember losing the NWA WORLDS HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP in the Tokyo Dome in front of 40,000 fans and winning at back at the Cauliflower Alley Club Convention super show. I believe I am one of hardest working most dedicated wrestlers ever.
